Diamond Buying Guide

Purchasing a diamond is one of the most significant jewellery investments you will ever make. Whether you're choosing an engagement ring, pendant, earrings, or a special gift, understanding the key characteristics of a diamond can help you make an informed decision.

At Diamour Jewellers, we believe every customer should feel confident when selecting a diamond.

The 4Cs of Diamonds

The quality and value of a diamond are determined by four key factors known as the 4Cs:

Cut

The cut determines how well a diamond reflects light. A well-cut diamond will appear brighter, more brilliant, and more sparkling.

Colour

Diamond colour is graded from D (colourless) to Z (light yellow or brown). Colourless diamonds are generally the most valuable.

Clarity

Clarity refers to natural inclusions and blemishes found within a diamond. Most inclusions are microscopic and invisible to the naked eye.

Carat Weight

Carat measures a diamond's weight. Larger diamonds are generally rarer and more valuable.

Choosing the Right Diamond

When selecting a diamond, balance the 4Cs according to your budget and preferences. Many buyers choose slightly lower colour or clarity grades to maximise carat weight while maintaining excellent visual appearance.

Diamond Certification

Always purchase diamonds that are independently graded by reputable laboratories such as GIA or IGI. Certification provides confidence regarding the diamond's authenticity and quality.
